NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CINEMA VENTURES ANNOUNCES NEW HIRE FOR DISTRBUTION TEAM

National Geographic Cinema Ventures (NGCV) announced that John Wickstrom will be joining the National Geographic Cinema Ventures Distribution team as interim Director of Sales, effective July 1.

Wickstrom, a giant screen industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience, will be responsible for sales of National Geographic’s giant screen films in much of the U.S., Mexico, and South America.

Mark Katz, President of Cinema Ventures, said about the hire, “John will be a tremendous addition to our Cinema Ventures distribution team, one who brings a wealth of experience to the table, including distribution, sales, film operations, and film production, among others. We have worked with John before and look forward to working with him again.”

Wickstrom has experience in all aspects of the giant screen industry. He started his career at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, where he served as Director of Film Operations, overseeing all aspects of exhibition at the Omnimax Theater in the Henry Crown Space Center. He has also distributed a number of giant screen films, including the IMAX Hall of Fame inductee Antarctica, and National Geographic’s own all time classic Mysteries of Egypt. In addition, he served as executive producer of SOLARMAX, assisted distribution at nWave Pictures, and is currently serving as a consultant on Jerusalem 3D. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Giant Screen Cinema Association.
