National Infantry Museum Cuts Ribbon on New Hotel

530702_10151483537627125_862683036_nColumbus, GA, USA (February 1, 2012) — A ribbon cutting ceremony took place today at the Hampton Inn at Fort Benning, located on the grounds of the National Infantry Museum, adjacent to the Thea Award honoree for Outstanding Achievement in Museum Design.  The hotel, designed to blend with the architecture of the museum and Fort Benning, is the first phase of the museum’s 60 acre mixed use development called “Patriot’s Walk.”  Early concepts included dining, retail, residential and office properties.  The close proximity of the 102-room hotel, which opens next week, will allow easy access to museum exhibits, the market’s only IMAX theater, Army Infantry graduations and other ceremonies at the museum’s parade grounds, and special events, such as the upcoming bridal festival.  The hotel is owned and operated by Columbus-based Valley Hospitality.  Photos courtesy National Infantry Foundation.
