Bloomington, IN, USA — Celebrate the connection between science and literacy this summer at the WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology in Bloomington. The new exhibition, Science from A to Z, takes visitors of all ages on an exciting treasure hunt throughout the museum to find a different science idea for each letter of the alphabet. The 26 interactive stations cover everything from biomechanics to magnetism to solar power – and more. Perhaps the most exciting experiences include getting to lay down on a bed of 5,000 nails to learn about the physics of pressure, and investigating a life-size skull cast from one of the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever found to see what clues it gives us about the dinosaur’s diet and life.
“Scientific ideas cannot be shared without words. This is a whimsical approach to learning about science and building vocabulary. It’s fun for young children to simply hunt for the letter and activity. For older children and adults, it’s an engaging way to explore scientific concepts more deeply together,” says Karen Jepson-Innes, WonderLab’s associate executive director.
Science from A to Z opens June 3 and is on display through January 2016 at WonderLab. Lead exhibition sponsors are the Brabson Library and Educational Foundation and Solution Tree.
A concurrent art exhibition, Mammoth is Mopey: An Alphabet of Prehistoric Animals, is on display through October 24. It showcases the 26 illustrated pages of the picture book by Bloomington artist and author David Orr.
