Giant Screen and Filmed Attraction Veteran Peter Anderson Awarded the Prestigious Gordon E Sawyer Award at the Motion Picture Academy’s Sci-Tech Awards

Los Angeles, CA, USA — Peter Anderson, a legendary visual effects artist and cinematographer who helped pioneer the modern film-based attraction and giant screen cinema was awarded the Gordon E. Sawyer Award by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Board of Governors, for technological contributions that have brought credit to the industry.  The award was presented to Anderson by visual effects legend Douglas Trumbull at a gala held February 15, 2014 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.

Anderson’s giant screen films include: Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man, Ultimate G’s: Zac’s Flying Dream, Roar: Lions of the Kalahari, U2 3D, Adrenaline Rush: The Science of Risk, and Space Junk 3D.

Some of the many attractions he has been involved in as cinematographer or visual effects supervisor are: Magic Journeys, Portraits of Canada, Captain EO, Muppet*vision 3-D, T2 3-D: Battle Across Time, Pirates 3D, Seseame Street 4-D, Star Trek: Borg Invasion 4D, Universe of Energy, Wonders of China and Star Tours.
