Pirate Reef Fills Up at LEGOLAND California

Carlsbad, CA, USA (May 15, 2012) — All hands were on deck today as gallons of water gushed into the trough of LEGOLAND® California’s new ride, Pirate Reef, opening May 25. Pirates lent a hand as the first of 155,000 gallons of water went into the new interactive ride which will be the first ride accessible from both LEGOLAND® Water Park and Pirate Shores inside LEGOLAND California.

Pirate Reef features two massive pirate ships that stand 20-feet high and 40-feet long designed for guests to climb aboard, battle each other with water cannons and blast passengers on the ride as they splash down 25 feet soaking daring guests on the bridge below.

LEGO® frogs, installed today by Master Model Builders and designed to spray water at passengers, are part of the more than 30 pirate-themed LEGO models going into Pirate Reef. The models will be created out of more than 223,000 LEGO bricks and include both Captain Red Brick and Captain Blue Brick, pirates, monkeys, parrots and more.

Two additional interactive components include the splash bridge that is sure to leave guests soaked and a pirate inspired brick building play area.

LEGOLAND® California Resort includes LEGOLAND California and SEA LIFE™ Carlsbad Aquarium, both geared for families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. At LEGOLAND California, you’ll find more than 60 rides, shows and attractions including the 5.5 acre LEGOLAND® Water Park, the all-new LEGO Star Wars Miniland and Pirate Reef opening this summer.
