David Kenneth joins Pixomondo’s themed entertainment division as Executive Producer

Innovate Entertainment Founder/President David Kenneth has partnered with VFX house Pixomondo’s themed entertainment division as an executive producer.

Based at its Los Angeles headquarters, Kenneth will work closely with Themed Entertainment Senior Vice President David Garber and Pixomondo founder/CEO Thilo Kuther.

Kenneth’s relationship with Pixomondo grew out of the duo’s successful collaboration on the newly opened Warner Bros. World indoor theme park in Abu Dhabi, already listed by Time Magazine as one of the “Greatest Places 2018.”

As the parkwide media producer on Warner Bros. World, Kenneth worked with Pixomondo on five themed rides including the park’s celebrated Green Lantern Galactic Odyssey, a flying simulator. Despite being only open four months, that attraction now ranks as the 23rd most popular in the world by Theme Park Insider Magazine.

“David brings with him a wealth of experience from the theme park and location-based entertainment arenas,” said Garber. “Thilo and I feel he is a great addition to our fast-growing division and we expect him to be an integral part of that growth.”

“Pixomondo’s global presence, combined with its passion for innovation, provides an ideal environment for creating next-gen experiences that IP owners and brands are looking for,” said Kenneth. “I’m excited to part of the Pixo team as we expand the portfolio of projects, and focus on the art and science of modern day storytelling.”

IAAPA EXPO: A WILDLIFE INSTALLATION

Kenneth’s appointment to the company comes on the eve of his,  Garber’s and Kuther’s appearance at the International Association of Amusement Parks and  Attractions (IAAPA) Expo 2018 in Orlando, Florida from November 12 to 16. Pixomondo will have a presence at the trade show where it will introduce an interactive experience, giving visitors an opportunity to get up close with photo-real wildlife.

Pixomondo’s Asia VP Jan Heinze, and Maggie Lu will also be present on-site.

Pixomondo – known for creating the dragons on Game of Thrones and its Oscar winning VFX work on Martin Scorsese’s Hugo – is quickly becoming a powerhouse for theme park rides and interactive installations. The company’s immersive experience, National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey, a first-of-its kind walk-through digital aquarium in the heart of Times Square, is celebrating its one-year anniversary.

Pixomondo’s themed entertainment division produces digital walkthrough branded experiences, flying theater rides, immersive dome installations, digital dark ride media, and concert installations for clients in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East among others.

Kenneth’s extensive background in themed entertainment includes highly regarded projects such as Mission: Space for Disney’s Epcot Center, and Star Trek: Borg Invasion for Paramount Parks. Kenneth’s diverse experience also includes serving as the stereoscopic producer on the Warner Bros. feature films Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Green Lantern, 20th Century Fox’s Gulliver’s Travels, as well as Sony’s posthumous Michael Jackson documentary This Is It.  He was part of the Oscar-winning VFX team on Spider-Man 2, and the Emmy-winning team of The Triangle mini-series. Kenneth was also nominated for an Emmy Award for visual effect on the History Channel’s documentary The Crumbling of America.  He has directed live-action and VFX for Sony TV, Lionsgate, Motorola, HBO, 2010 Shanghai Expo and Disney Home Entertainment. He was most recently the parkwide media producer for Warner Bros. World on behalf of experience company Thinkwell Group.
