The zoo has partnered with the International Wildlife Film Festival to present award winning wildlife films that feature animals native to North Dakota, and the rare cold climate species found at the Red River Zoo.
The films are family friendly and feature two films exclusively for children. Leading off Friday night’s films is “First Snow in the Woods,” based on an award winning children’s book. The film is a heartwarming, hilarious tale filled with stunning wildlife footage filmed over the course of two fall seasons, featuring intimate looks of animals from white-tailed deer to chipmunks to the magnificent great gray owl.
The second children’s feature, “Critterquest,” introduces 5-12 year-olds into the wonderful, icky world of creepy crawlies that lurk just beyond their doorsteps. The film also explores the habitats of red squirrels, white tail deer, raptors, turtles and other species to teach children about hibernation, migration and other classic autumn animal/insect and plant behaviors.
Other featured films are: “Duck: A Duckumentary,” “ Wild Russia – The Arctic, “ “Return to the Wild: A Modern Tale of Wolf and Man, “ “The Ice Age Horse, “ “Crossroads, Norway: Viking Wilderness, “ “American Serengeti,” “Legends of the Gobi,” “ Cherub of the Mist” and “Bringing Back the Cranes.”
Show times are 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, March 30th and 2:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday, March 31. Tickets are sold for the day and are $10 per person for adults and $5 for children under 12. For show times and descriptions of the films visit http://www.redriverzoo.org.
