Carlsbad, CA, USA (June 12, 2013) —  Before LEGOLAND California Resort unveils the world’s largest LEGO model to Park guests tomorrow, a few lucky San Diego Chargers were able to lend a big hand to Master Model Builders assembling laser cannons to the life-sized LEGO X-wing starfighter.

The X-wing is a 1:1 replica made of five million LEGO bricks that took a team of 32 Master Model Builders more than 17,000 hours to construct. The model weighs more than 45,000 pounds, stands 11 feet tall, stretches 43 feet long and has a wingspan of 44 feet.

The group of Charger linebackers including star rookie Manti Te’o, Jarret Johnson, Donald Butler, Larry English and James Mouton were the first to see the LEGO Star Wars X-wing starfighter at LEGOLAND California Resort that will be on display starting June 13, 2013 through the remainder of the year for Resort guests to enjoy. The Charger players took in a few of the more than 60 rides shows and attractions which included touring the new LEGOLAND Hotel, taking a walk through LEGO Star Wars Miniland Model Display and finishing their visit by getting drenched riding Pirate Reef.  It was the first time for many of the players to visit LEGOLAND California Resort and they are already making plans to return with their families.
