TEA SATE conferences head to France and China

The TEA’s next two SATE conferences will take place May 8-10, 2019 at Parc Asterix in France (pictured above) and June 14-16, 2019 at the Shendi Center in Shanghai.

The SATE acronym stands for Story + Architecture + Technology = Experience. SATE also alludes to a collaborative culture of production, in which designers, technologists, producers, developers and operators work closely together from the early stages of a project, in a team structure often more horizontal than hierarchical. TEA produces three annual SATE conferences – in North America, Europe, and Asia.

The theme of both SATE EUROPE and SATE ASIA is “Moving People.” From the organizers (TEA Europe & Middle East Division): “Be it physical, emotional, or technological, this year’s theme of ‘Moving People’ covers a broad spectrum of how we take people in journeys within the themed entertainment industry.

Keynoting SATE Europe will be Yves Pepin, whose work defined the modern genre of the nighttime multimedia spectacular with a blend of art, technology and storytelling, integrating projection, water, lasers, live performance, robots, music and pyrotechnics.

Other presenters at SATE Europe include:

Following the SATE conference, an optional side visit to Puy du Fou is available on May 11, featuring a tour of the park, recipient of the TEA Thea Classic award, dinner, and an evening show.

Further details are to come on SATE ASIA, taking place at Shanghai’s Shendi Center. Applications for Presentations are being accepted through May 3, 2019.
