Super 78 opens attraction featuring 8K immersion tunnel at Dinosaurland in Changzhou, China

Award-winning attractions design studio Super 78 continued a successful 2019 with the launch of an all-new Immersion Tunnel dark ride experience called Dino Tour for China Dinosaurland theme park in Changzhou.

Super 78 has worked with Dinosaurland for nearly a decade and Dino Tour is their most ambitious collaboration to date. The multifaceted state-of-the-art attraction, which spans 23,000 square meters, begins in a modern laboratory where Chinese scientists have brought dinosaurs back to life. Then, guests board a tram to tour the rainforest environment where these amazing creatures roam free. A major special effects action sequence kicks off the Immersion Tunnel finale.

The climactic 3D 8K ultra-high resolution media experience — a rampaging dinosaur chase through the rainforest — unfolds on parallel four-story-tall screens that surround the ride vehicle, with cutting-edge immersive sound design. The ride’s motion base platform is coordinated to the on-screen action to create a stunningly immersive and thrilling ride experience.

SLIDESHOW:

The official grand opening was held last month, culminating a three-year-long process to design and complete the entire attraction. This was the park’s first project to fuse together multiple elements into a single experience: the detailed queue and preshow walkthrough, the tram ride through a practical environment filled with life-size animatronic dinosaurs, the dramatic SFX action “mini show” with practical fire and water effects, and the Immersion Tunnel final act.

“We enjoyed the entire process working closely with Park President Ni and her creative team to be part of such an incredible attraction,” said Brent Young, Super 78’s Creative Director and Co- Founder. “We actually wrote a whole novel that informed the development of an entire new land at the park. Immersion Tunnels are always a fun creative challenge for us as we are always looking for ways to push the limits of that particular storytelling medium,” he continued.

“Super 78 has already created several Immersion Tunnel attractions including The Lost Temple in 2014 for Movie Park Germany, which earned a VES nomination for ‘Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project,’ and The Forbidden Caves, created for Belgium’s Bobbejaanland park, which features an original story that Super 78 owns and is able to license,” said Dina Benadon, Super 78’s CEO and Co-Founder.
