San Diego, CA, USA (November 20, 2013) — Organizers of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration today announced the addition of Utopia Entertainment to the team that is producing the attractions, festivals and forums that will draw millions to San Diego in 2015.

Utopia is a themed-entertainment, lifestyle and events company that produces spectacular guest experiences for theme parks, museums, visitor centers, hospitality & retail centers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Its world-renowned design and production teams also collaborate on community-sized events ranging from parades, competitions and food and wine festivals to this summer’s US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon at Orange County’s Great Park in Irvine, which drew 66,000 visitors.

“We are excited to have an outstanding entertainment production company to implement on the outstanding ideas advanced this past year by Autonomy,” Balboa Park Celebration CEO Julie Dubick said.  Autonomy, the creative company led by Adam Burke and Phil Green, advanced programing concepts for BPCI, including the thought-leadership series “25 Weekends to Change the World” and a series of rotating international celebrations to be held in Plaza de Panama.

“The creative phase Autonomy worked on has set the stage for the first-class event worthy of our great city and great park,” Dublick said.

Interim Mayor Todd Gloria said, “Anticipation is building throughout our community for this celebration, which is going to excite and unite all of San Diego.”

Utopia will be working locally with San Diego companies to execute all aspects of the celebration, which includes cultural festivals, outdoor concerts, innovation forums and a full calendar of special exhibits, installations and family-oriented attractions.

Dublick said Utopia’s extraordinary versatility- as well as its local experience working for the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld-is perfectly suited to the multiverse of programming planned for 2015.

Utopia works with the major entertainment companies that include NBC Universal, Sony, Paramount and DreamWorks.

Recent projects include the Symbio Night Show at Ocean Park, Hong Kong; Pororo 3-D Adventure at Samsung Everland in South Korea and the Magical Starlight Parade at Universal Studios Japan.

Recent event projects include US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon, Doheny Beach Surf Festival, Beverly Hills Holidays and Orange County’s Great Park Anniversary, Harvest and New Year’s Eve Festivals.

“We are excited to work with San Diego to deliver a world-class “wow” experience for tourists and residents alike, making the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration the place to be in 2015,” Utopia President Daniel Burzlaff said.
