World Tourism Forum Institute issues report on COVID-19 impact on international tourism

The World Tourism Forum Institute has issued a report examining the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on international tourism. WTFI calls for the importance of the tourism sector in the recovery strategies of governments, foreign agencies and organizations. The World Health Organization (WHO) urges countries suffering from COVID-19 outbreaks to enforce travel or trade restrictions, but many governments have defied this and have placed bans or limitations on other nations. Regarding international tourist arrivals, WTFI has revised its 2020 outlook from 1% to 3%. WTFI expected growth of 3% to 4% before the COVID 19 outbreak. The effect on medical tourism is not yet understood but it is expected to be very badly affected.
