World’s Longest Water Coaster Now Open at Holiday World

Santa Claus, IN, USA (May 16, 2012) — The World’s Longest Water Coaster, Mammoth, officially opened to the public on May 11.

Mammoth, created by ProSlide, towers seven stories from highest to lowest point and cover more than three acres. The massive Mammoth begins with a conveyor ride up the water coaster’s lift hill. Following each drop, LIMs fly guests’ boats back up hill after air-time-filled hill.

Linear Induction Motor (LIM) technology powers these six- and eight-passenger boats up the hills . In total, six LIMs propel the boats on their way through this 1/3 mile water coaster.

Mammoth’s rafts are six- and eight-passenger boats. Round boats: Nine feet in diameter, flying up and down hills in the 12-foot-wide channels and tunnels. That means the thrilling trek on the World’s Longest Water Coaster may be experienced facing forward, facing sideways, or facing backwards…

…Facing backwards and in the dark. There are five enclosed slide sections. And many twists and turns. Plus air-time, that incredible feeling of being lifted off your seat.

U-Studios (a TEA member) did the queue, load, control and observation structures as well as the landscape design for this ride.
