#WDI gave a sneak preview of the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction preshow opening in 2020.

Imagineer Kevin Rafferty explained that guests will be visiting the Chinese Theater to see the new cartoon short “Perfect Picnic.” The actual theater in Hollywood has historical significance to Disney and Mickey Mouse, and is an appropriate home for the new attraction.
Guests are led to a small theater for a viewing of “Perfect Picnic.” The film starts with Mickey & Minnie headed off to a picnic with Pluto. They see Goofy driving a train and agree to meet later at the park. A little mayhem ensues and the train causes a giant hole to appear in the bottom of the screen.
Guests will then enter the ride through the screen and become a part of the cartoon.
Imagineer Sharita Carter says the attraction is not comparable to anything they’ve done before but likened the preshow to the Haunted Mansion’s stretching room in how it sets up the rest of the attraction.
The ride features a brand new story and catchy theme song, both written by Imagineering. The ride is expected to open in March, 2020.
