Living The Dream

At Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights Media Event I had the pleasure of meeting Frankie and Scott, both of whom are pursuing futures in the theme park/hospitality markets. We got to talking for a while, and I realized that not everyone knows ways to break into the industry.

As a caveat, I don’t claim to have a definitive path, but I do think one great resource is the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). No other group that I know of is as committed to helping uncover the next generation of creative talent for the industry. Disney Imagineering and Universal Creative, both active with TEA, have committed resources to help TEA grow its base of members for the express purpose of uncovering new talent. Brian Szaks is heading up this expansion of TEA, and was also at the HHN event, talking with Frankie and Scott.

In addition to the amazing networking opportunities TEA offers, a regular electronic newsletter, and an active e-job board, the organization has started to offer more behind the scenes and industry informational events. Now is a great time to get involved.

So for those of you looking to become involved in themed entertainment, check out TEA. And of course, keep reading InPark Magazine!!
