Utopia Chosen as Project Manager for 2013 US Solar Decathlon

Studio City, CA, USA — On Tuesday April 23, 2013, Utopia was asked to join the City of Irvine in planing the 2013 Solar Decathlon. Utopia will be working hand in hand with the City of Irvine and the Department of Energy in creating this year’s event.  The Solar Decathlon will be held at the 1,300 acre Orange County Great Park in Irvine, CA.  The Department of Energy plans to showcase 20 teams from around the world compete to design, build and operate the most energy efficient homes on the planet.

This will mark the sixth year for this bi-annual event traditionally held on the Mall in Washington DC.  In addition to being staged in a brand new location, the event will also feature a new component, the Solar Decathlon XPO.  The XPO is a world fair of clean, renewable and efficient energy featuring visionary and innovative companies, products and educational opportunities. Visitors will experience the past, present and future of energy generation and energy efficiency in every facet of their lives, including home design, transportation, consumer products, farming, entertainment and education.

Utopia is honored to be chosen as the Project Management Team for this International Event, and encourages the public to get involved. This October visitors can immerse themselves into the the exciting world of energy efficient technologies and perhaps learn to help us all live a better life now and in the future.
