I’m really pleased that not a single flume ride appears in this issue. I don’t have anything against flume rides. Back in college I was a lead at the Yankee Clipper flume ride at Six Flags Great America. I loved it. I’ve always thought that if I had ever worked for Disney, Splash Mountain would have been my attraction.
No, I’m pleased because an article about flumes would be totally expected in an issue themed around water. In fact, we don’t really address many waterparks in this issue either. Instead, we have looked at other uses of water within the amusement industry, some of the benefits as well as some of the risks. We even look at how to handle the situation when children turn on the waterworks.
The best part is we’ve only made a slight ripple in the water. I have a feeling this theme will resurface again in the future.
In other news, I am proud to announce our affiliation with the American Amusement Machine Association. We are proud to add their members to our subscriber list, and look forward to bringing you more information and news on the coin-op market. In case you haven’t noticed, there are some neat new concepts and products coming out of that industry; ones that can impact Family Entertainment Centers, amusement parks and water parks alike.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank our team of writers, photographers and designers who have really come together to create the unique look and feel of InPark Magazine.
As always, your feedback and comments are welcomed and encouraged. As for me, I’m heading off to the nearest flume ride for a quick splashdown.
