On July 26, 2024, Intamin’s esteemed partner Drayton Manor opened their new ride “Gold Rush.” Gold Rush is Intamin’s first family coaster featuring both a lift and a launch in the same ride as well as a multi-experience layout configuration.
Gold Rush at Drayton Manor offers a dynamic ride which will take guests on a wild adventure through the history of the gold mining era. In one of the two ride sequences, guests will experience the lift hill both in the classic forward motion but will, after a separate backwards friction wheel launch section, reverse the backside of the lift hill, stall, and launch forwards back down the lift hill again. Afterward, a dynamic friction wheel launch will then propel riders through close-to-ground maneuvers along the rest of the layout. The layout includes many low-to-the-ground elements that create a surprising and dynamic ride experience for the whole family.
Gold Rush features Intamin’s single-backbone track which ensures a smooth ride experience and offers an aesthetically pleasing design, requiring fewer columns compared to the traditional two-pipe track systems
Additionally, Gold Rush is designed with a unique multi-experience layout configuration, enabling it to alternate between two distinct ride sequences at the flick of a switch. This allows the park to vary the ride experience, opting (for example) for one sequence in the morning and a different one later in the day.
The trains feature comfortable seats, individual lap bars, and customized theming to fit the story you want to tell. Combined with a 1-meter minimum height requirement, these trains are a fit for the entire family.
