LEGOLAND® Shanghai Resort officially opened its gates, welcoming families into a vibrant world of creativity, adventure and imagination. Located in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, this destination is China’ s first LEGOLAND Resort and the largest LEGOLAND park at the time of opening.
Spanning 318,000 square meters (3,423,000 square feet), the brand-new theme park and hotel destination will invite guests to immerse themselves into eight “lands,” filled with over 75 interactive rides, shows and attractions, as well as explore thousands of LEGO models built from more than 85 million LEGO bricks. This achievement has been made possible thanks to 10,000 workers and 300 teams from 15 countries bringing together creativity, engineering, and innovation.
The grand opening ceremony, which took place July 5, was a colorful celebration, featuring music and dancing, and appearances from LEGOLAND characters Mike and Amy. Dressed in vibrant costumes, performers brought the opening to life, alongside representatives from the Shanghai and Jinshan Governments, Merlin Entertainments, The LEGO® Group, and New Jinshan Investment Group, the Resort’s Kid Reporters and thousands of guests, who gathered to commemorate this exciting milestone.
To mark the spectacular grand opening, LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort will be rolling out the red carpet for an epic “Grand Opening Week” from July 5 to 13. Guests can enjoy a week of fun, with the Resort transformed into a festive wonderland of themed decorations, immersive experiences, and exclusive offers. The LEGO Plaza will buzz with daily welcome shows and meet-and-greet moments with many LEGOLAND characters. Limited time minifigure swaps, exclusive merchandise, special discounts, and LEGO treats await all adventure-seekers.

As part of the grand opening, LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort proudly introduces a range of exclusive attractions designed to deliver world-class entertainment and inspire creativity in guests of all ages. Guests will be able to step into the spectacular live theater, where the world premiere of the LEGO Monkie Kid live show will take center stage. At the world-first water-town style boat tour, guests are welcomed to cruise through 25x scale LEGO Chinese water town and modern Shanghai cityscapes – all built from LEGO bricks. The resort also debuts the LEGOLAND Creative World. The area is home to DADA where guests are able to engage by taking a picture with the largest LEGO minifigure in history.
Brand new to the Resort, BRICK STREET and BRICKTOPIA! are the destinations for LEGO enthusiasts, bursting with imaginative decorations, awe-inspiring LEGO models, and daily performances. In the LEGO NINJAGO themed land, thrill- seekers can challenge themselves on three major rides: LEGO NINJAGO The Ride, Jay’s Gravity Force Trainer, and Kai’s Sky Master. Alternatively, for younger guests who are still at the start of their theme park adventures, LEGO CITY is the perfect place to begin. Families can also head to the Driving School to earn their very first driver’s license or team up with their loved ones for a thrilling firefighting rescue.
Next, water lovers of all ages won’ t want to miss the fun-filled LEGO Friends land. Ride a jet ski at Water Race Challenge, glide through waves at the Beach Party, or join a friendly boat-building competition at Build-A-Boat. Then, it’s time to head over to the LEGO Castle themed land, young guests are transported into a world of knights, wizards, and dragons through thrilling speed and height challenges!
Throughout the resort, six restaurants, tens of food stands and ten retail stores provide a wide range of dining and shopping options. Pigsy’s Food Court, CITY Restaurant, and Bricks Family Restaurant serve up LEGO-themed tableware for a playful meal. Ice cream food carts dish out Dragon Ollie and LEGO brick-shaped ice-cream delights. The largest “The BIG Shop” in Asia and the world premiere LEGO Monkie Kid’ s Merch shop are treasure troves of LEGO products and exclusive items.
Guests can extend the fun with a sleepover at LEGOLAND Hotel, where they are greeted by Ollie the Dragon and can enjoy character meet-and-greets, pajama dance parties, and nightly surprises that carry the magic of the park into bedtime.
