PGAV announced the addition of seven leaders to its ownership team: Steve Cramer, Chris Davis, Ashley Edelbrock, Emily Howard, John Kasman, Diane Lochner, and Tom Marschner, effective January 14, 2025. They join current owners Mike Konzen and Mike Schaadt, who have been instrumental in leading the firm since 2010.
This team of leaders exemplifies PGAV’s core values while embracing the unique strengths and culture that define our organization. With a collective 151 years of experience at PGAV, these leaders represent a broad range of expertise across the Destinations and Architects profit centers and the Saint Louis, Kansas City, and Orlando studios.
As PGAV marks its 60th anniversary, this transition reflects the next chapter in PGAV’s carefully planned succession strategy. In 2010, the company’s founders entrusted ownership to a new generation of leaders who served as the Board of Directors. Now, the incoming owners represent the next wave of thought leaders who will guide the future of PGAV.
The established and incoming owners will collaborate closely during this transition period. Mike Konzen will continue as Chairman of the Board, with Mike Schaadt serving as President and Treasurer. The new owners will serve as advisory members of the board, gaining valuable insight and experience. Additionally, Steve Troester, who retired on January 1, will remain on the Board until April 1 to assist with transitioning his responsibilities. Andy Struckhoff continues as a shareholder and President of PGAV Planners.
In today’s industry, ownership transitions often involve private equity, acquisitions, or mergers with other firms. However, PGAV’s Board remained steadfast in its commitment to remaining a design and planning firm owned and led by active practitioners who have been central to PGAV’s success for many years.
PGAV’s continued focus is on building and developing a talented team, serving an expanding list of clients, and ensuring the company’s continuity for decades to come.
“This transition empowers the new team to assume their new roles smoothly and intentionally,” said Konzen, Chairman of the Board. “For our employees, this means having a talented leadership team with a deep passion for our industries and dedication to PGAV. They understand who we are and have the vision to make smart, innovative decisions that honor our culture while driving us into the future.”
PGAV President Schaadt agrees. He notes, “This group of leaders has inspired us all to dream bigger, learn more and do more to help our clients, and become more as people and design professionals.”
