Powersoft to have strong presence at this year’s IAAPA Expo and Attractions Technology Lab in Orlando

Attendees will be able discover for themselves the power of Mover – the cutting-edge compact transducer that lets visitors feel the music at Sphere in Las Vegas – at the IAAPA Expo 2023 event, which takes place in Orlando, Florida, from 14th to 17th November.

Visitors to the Powersoft stand (#662) can experience two earth-shaking demonstrations of Mover, which utilises Powersoft’s patented ultra-low-frequency, moving-magnet linear motor technology to deliver sound through haptic perception – the body’s capability to feel low-end audio frequencies through bone conduction.

Both demos – the first showing how haptic technology can be built into a haptic floor, and the second demonstrating the transducer integrated into a cinema seat – will illustrate how Mover can easily add another dimension to a wide range of visitor attractions, from theme and amusement park rides to immersive science exhibitions.

On Monday 13th November, the day before the show floor opens, at Oceaneering (Horizon Park location, Orlando), Powersoft will also co-host a 60-minute educational session on haptic technology and immersive visual experiences, in collaboration with its partner StrongMDI. Part of the Attractions Technology Lab (ATL), which runs alongside the IAAPA Expo, ‘Beyond Boundaries: Powersoft Haptics and StrongMDI’s Visionary Blend’ takes place at 3pm, with capacity strictly limited to 50 guests.

In addition to ‘Beyond Boundaries’, Attractions Technology Lab guests can experience firsthand Powersoft’s moving-magnet haptic in the groundbreaking SEISMOs floor, which forms the centrepiece of the new ATL Tech Galley. This interactive haptic flooring system, developed by StrongMDI to stimulate an emotional response through vertical movement, fully integrates Powersoft audio and tactile feedback technology into a seamless sensory experience.

In partnership with Q-SYS, Powersoft is also powering the ATL Dark Ride Lab, where its advanced audio solutions deliver crystal-clear sound quality to immerse attendees in a world of technocratic soundscapes uniquely created for the event.

“We are thrilled to be returning to the IAAPA Expo and Attractions Technology Lab,” says Powersoft’s corporate and marketing communication manager, Francesco Fanicchi. “With visitor expectations at an all-time high, haptic feedback is fast becoming a ‘must have’ for future-conscious attraction operators, and we’re looking forward to demonstrating how Powersoft technologies can help elevate the audience experience.”

In Las Vegas, Mover is integrated into Sphere’s 10,000 immersive seats, where its haptic feedback provides eventgoers with a more convincing, realistic live experience by engaging the senses beyond visual and audio stimulation. More durable, accurate and efficient than other tactile transducers, Powersoft’s moving-magnet technology relies on the ultra-low-frequency reproduction of an audio signal to make the venue’s chairs vibrate and shake as desired for each performance.

Powersoft technology also recently found a home at Gardaland, the largest theme park in Italy, where its Quattrocanali 2404 DSP+D amplifiers are part of a multi-sensory experience at of one of the park’s newest attractions, Jumanji: The Adventure.

“From Sphere and Gardaland to Illuminarium in Atlanta and Amsterdam’s Our House, Powersoft is rapidly cementing its leading role in the global attractions market with a portfolio of state-of-the-art, made-for-attractions technology solutions,” continues Fanicchi. “After a successful show debut last year, we’re looking forward to connecting once again with some of the biggest names in visitor attractions at IAAPA Expo 2023. See you there!”
