Panama City Beach’s Shipwreck Island Waterpark joins Pyek Group portfolio

Houston-based Pyek Group, LLC, which manages Typhoon Texas waterparks in Katy and Austin, and two Cowabunga-branded waterparks in the Las Vegas area, has added Shipwreck Island Waterpark in Panama City Beach, Florida to its portfolio of managed family entertainment destinations.

The new management contract for Shipwreck Island Waterpark calls for Pyek Group to oversee all aspects of the venue including staffing, operations and marketing. Ownership in the venue will not change.

“This collaboration allows us to tap into our expertise and nationwide resources to enhance what is already an exceptional entertainment destination,” says Evan Barnett, president of Pyek Group.

A tropical-themed waterpark nestled in picturesque Panama City Beach, Shipwreck Island is renowned for its thrilling attractions and family-friendly atmosphere for guests of all ages. Last year, the waterpark added a Splash Cove area featuring ten children’s waterslides.

Pyek Group was formed by the management team of Typhoon Texas in 2021 to serve as an owner operator, third-party management and professional services team for hospitality and entertainment destinations. That same year, the company added Cowabunga Bay in Henderson, Nevada and Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas, re-branded as Cowabunga Canyon, in nearby Summerlin, to its portfolio.

In addition to their popularity with families, Pyek Group waterparks have earned awards for safety, leadership and their innovative approach to employee training and recognition.
