SeaWorld San Antonio opened its newest attraction, Rescue Jr., an immersive, kid-friendly adventure zone designed to inspire and entertain guests of all ages. The park held a grand opening ceremony that included local children assisting with a ribbon cutting. The ceremony also featured members of the SeaWorld rescue team and a variety of rescued small terrestrial animals. Rescue Jr. offers rides and interactive play areas that highlight SeaWorld’s rescue, rehabilitation and conservation efforts. The new rides are perfect for three- to five-year-olds who can now get a free Preschool Card offering unlimited admission to SeaWorld all year long.
“Rescue Jr. is an exciting new chapter in SeaWorld’s commitment to inspiring the next generation of animal advocates, and there’s no better time than spring break for families to come and experience it as it makes its official debut,” said Byron Surrett, SeaWorld Chief Parks Operations Officer. “This immersive play area brings our rescue efforts to life in a fun and educational way and celebrates the important work our zoological team does to protect and care for marine life.”
New play area for kids
Children will become the heroes of the park at Rescue Jr. where they can learn about animal rescue and rehabilitation through hands-on, active and engaging experiences, including:
- Beach Rescue Racer, the new 1,300-foot roller coaster with cars in the shape of a beach jeep will give guests the feeling of rushing to the rescue of animals in need.
- Guests can embark on a train ride adventure themed around a sea rescue on the Ocean Quest Express.
- Tide Pool Tumble lets little adventurers 42 inches and taller ebb and flow as they glide in and out with the tide on a seaside joy ride.
- Rescuers will take to the skies and soar on Seabird Swing, virtually parasailing high above the ground to observe seabirds. Guests 36 inches and taller can take flight in this giant swing.
- Ocean Rescue Carousel is perfect for young and old and will keep guests thrilled as they go round and round taking in the sights of the new play area. Everyone can enjoy the ride, but those at least 42 inches can ride it on their own.
