Six Flags Discovery Kingdom steers in 2021 with new drive-thru experience

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has announced a new, limited time modified event—Six Flags Celebrate 2021! Season of Thrills Drive-Thru Experience. As one of the largest drive-thru events in Northern California and the only one inside of a theme park, this unique experience rings in the New Year with a unique showcase of fun, distinctly different, and memorable themed areas. The park will be decked out for fan favorites like Fright Fest, Holiday in the Park, Spring Break, July 4th Fest, and The Marine World Experience. Guests will become immersed in millions of twinkling lights, festive music, iconic props and characters to entertain the entire family. While the park’s iconic rides and attractions will not be in operation per state requirements, this unique nighttime experience will delight visitors of all ages, offering an exciting and fun way to spend time outside of the home from the comfort and safety of their own vehicles.

“As we usher in a brand new year, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is thrilled to continue providing guests with a fun, entertaining, and most importantly safe experience,” said Park President Janine Durette. “Guests gave us glowing reviews for the Holiday in the Park Drive-Thru Experience and now they’ll have the rare opportunity to experience the park in a whole new way with a sampling of our most popular events.”

The Six Flags Celebrate 2021! Season of Thrills Drive-Thru Experience debuts Friday, January 8 and run Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, through January 31. The event encompasses over a mile of colorful twinkling lights, decorations, and festive music. Guests will also enjoy distanced surprise appearances by characters and special live entertainment along the route. Season Pass Holders and Members will receive the exclusive bonus opportunity to double their thrill by getting to experience the drive-thru twice in the same night.

To control and manage capacity, limited reservations will be available each night and will be required by all guests in advance using Six Flags’ online reservation system. Admission tickets for this first-ever event will be available on a first come, first served basis and will be sold per person for each night, with a minimum of two individuals per vehicle required. Admission is free with active Memberships and Season Passes, however reservations will still be required. Ticket sales will not be available at the gate.

For a limited time, when guests purchase the special Six Flags Friends Plush Bear, Six Flags will donate a bear to a local charity that benefits children in need this winter season. Six Flags Friends Bears are available for pre-purchase online. For full details, please visit sixflags.com/discoverykingdom.

The safety of guests, team members, and the animals in its care is always Six Flags’ top priority. The new Six Flags Celebrate 2021! Season of Thrills Drive-Thru Experience will offer a contactless experience that follows CDC, state, and county health and safety guidelines. To prevent overcrowding and allow for proper social distancing, a limited number of cars will be allowed each night.

Event requirements include use of masks if windows are down, no smoking, no littering, no stopping, and no exiting vehicles. Due to the limited size of certain areas and terrain within the park, only cars, SUVs, vans, and pick-up trucks are permitted. No busses, RVs, commercial vehicles, dually pick-up trucks, trailers, or motorcycles will be allowed. A maximum speed of three mph and maintaining a safe distance between cars will be strictly enforced.

As part of Six Flags’ comprehensive safety procedures, all employees are required to wear masks and are temperature-checked and health-screened each day. Gloves are worn as appropriate, per guidelines. As directed by current state regulations, limited additional services will be available. Six Flags encourages guests to plan accordingly for restroom breaks, gasoline, and food.
