Miner’s Landing on Pier 57 held its grand opening ceremony for Sasquatch Mountain, their newest attraction, on Friday, April 3, 2026. This experience takes guests on a thrilling off-road adventure to find conclusive evidence that Bigfoot creatures are real.
“This is our second time creating an attraction with Kyle Griffith at Miner’s Landing, following Wings Over Washington, the Flying Theater we developed together,” said Brent Young, Super 78’s President and Creative Director. “We have been eager to collaborate again ever since, and last year, we came up with this concept of a wild search for Bigfoot.”
In the world of the experience, guests are volunteers for this search mission, riding in rugged, custom-designed self-driving vehicles. The adventure takes guests down a log flume, into a lost mine on a roller coaster-style rail car, and even soaring into the air tethered to a helicopter.
Because of the unique challenges of working on the waterfront pier, a historical landmark with limited space, the decision was made to go with a VR-based adventure which could be realized in a very small, then-unused area, yet still deliver the excitement and immersion of a major theme park attraction.
“With this new experience, we’re continuing to develop Miner’s Landing into a celebration of Pacific Northwest history, culture and mythology,” said co-owner Kyle Griffith. “And everyone loves Bigfoot; it’s the ideal intellectual property for our region.”
Combining VR/XR headsets by VR Coaster and dynamic motion-base seats provided by Kraftwerk Living Technologies, this virtual race through the wilds of the Pacific Northwest combines both CG and live-action footage to bring the rugged environments and mysterious cryptids to life.
The Miner’s Landing team created a highly detailed attraction portal featuring scenic by Daniels Wood Land and a towering multi-functional Sasquatch animatronic crafted by Garner Holt Productions.
A full orchestral soundtrack was composed and arranged for the experience by Yessian Music, frequent collaborators with Super 78.
As with Wings Over Washington, the production technology included Mushroom VR™, Super 78’s proprietary virtual reality media review tool. Using Mushroom VR, every stakeholder was able to review the animation progress in the same VR hardware that guests wear during the attraction.
“Developing Sasquatch Mountain is exactly what we enjoy the most: creating an attraction from a blank sheet of paper that is brought to life with cutting-edge technology,” said Dina Benadon, Super 78’s CEO and Executive Producer. “Kyle Griffith and his family, the owners of Miners Landing, are always incredible partners to work with. They aren’t afraid to push the envelope and try new things. That’s how great experiences are made.”
