Burbank, CA, USA — The SATE 2012 Organizing Committee has issued a call for individuals wishing to participate in a variety of capacities. SATE 2012 will be held Sept. 19-21, 2012 at the Newport Bay Hotel, Disneyland Paris. SATE (Storytelling – Architecture – Technology – Experience) emphasizes critical issues relating to the creation of successful and engaging visitor and guest experiences.

Yves Pépin, SATE 2012 Co-Chair

SATE 2012 Conference Theme:
Cultural Diversity in Creating Successful Guest Experiences: An Obstacle or an Opportunity?

Our industry operates within highly diverse cultural environments, from initial project concept right through the day to day operations. Whether dealing with museum exhibits, heritage venues, theme parks, live events, visitor centres, or corporate brandlands, the clients, the creative team and, most important, the guests and visitors are often highly diverse in culture and background. Led by industry visionaries Yves Pépin and Joe Rohde, SATE 2012 will explore and illuminate key issues related to working in the diverse global market, its clients and its customers.

Joe Rohde, SATE 2012 Co-chair

In addition to opening and closing sessions, three topics will be explored with two sessions each:

1. Working within a multicultural environment/with a multicultural team: Successfully blending the diverse talents and perspectives of clients and creative teams for the best possible guest outcomes; finding ways to better understand and communicate with each other.

2. Interpretation/cultural representation challenges and responsibilities: Overcoming our inherent views and approaches when working with different cultures; setting aside built-in biases to better satisfy the client’s and visitor’s objectives and needs.

3. New cultural territories within the global market: Identifying new and different geographic, topical, industrial, and cultural opportunities; applying your skills and talents to help new markets tell their stories.
