Valtech, the experience innovation company, announced the appointment of Deane Barker as VP of DXP Consulting. Barker will spearhead the evolution of Valtech’s holistic digital experience platform (DXP) value proposition, flying the flag for a data-driven, cloud-based approach that transcends a standard CMS. He’ll be a subject matter expert and lead consultant on strategic client engagements and continue his track record of creating world-class thought leadership.
Valtech helps businesses adopt composable DXPs, recognizing that mixing-and-matching best-of-breed components enables it to create more tailored, effective solutions. Barker will play a crucial role in this endeavor.
Before joining Valtech, Barker served as Global Director of Content Management at Optimizely – one of Valtech’s longstanding global partners. There, he led thought leadership, product strategy and market positioning for the Optimizely CMS and CMP products. He also boasts 15 years of agency experience at Blend Interactive, and for the past seven years has taught the Intro to CMS and Advanced CMS courses at FH JOANNEUM – one of Austria’s largest applied science colleges. In 2016, Barker wrote the well-regarded book Web Content Management: Systems, Features, and Best Practices, published by O’Reilly Media.
“After five years with a vendor, I’m glad to be back on the agency side, working with Valtech’s diverse experts,” said Barker. “I’m impressed with how they combine skills and disciplines, data, and creativity to solve complicated problems and deliver tangible results for clients. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running and adding my 25 years of experience to the team.”
“Deane is a guru in content technology. He is an impressive strategist, thought leader, and speaker, and a true C-suite whisperer,” said Allison Abraham, Managing Director, Americas at Valtech. “Deane will elevate our client conversations and bring a great level of expertise in ensuring content provides the connection that brands yearn for with their audiences. He’s an asset to our business and our clients.”
