AIMS International awards Hugo Loyola 2021 Safety Award

AIMS International named Hugo Loyola recipient of the 2021 AIMS International Safety Award.

With safety as the industry’s number one concern for guests and employees worldwide, efforts in improving safety are shown in many forms: the design and implementation of new products and technology, the development of safety education programs and training, and by exemplary leadership in influencing others. Presented annually, the safety award is bestowed upon the individual or organization that demonstrates leadership, innovation and foresight in improving safety in the amusement industry.

A mechanical engineer by trade, Hugo is currently the Corporate Process Manager for the Diversur Group, which includes Fantasilandia Amusement Park, and the Happyland FEC brand with locations throughout Central and South America.

Hugo is an advocate of employees’ safety and an expert in component failure modes effect analysis; often collaborating with AIMS, IAAPA and ACOLAP, the Parks Association of Colombia. He is a member of the IAAPA Facilities Operations Committee – North America and the IAAPA Safety Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since 2019, Hugo has been a volunteer instructor for the AIMS International Safety Seminar teaching courses from digital inspections to ride evacuations and FMEA topics. Most recently, he delivered 20 hours of safety, operation and maintenance education entirely in Spanish; creating the first-ever Spanish language track expanding AIMS educational offerings into Latin America and the Caribbean.

He is currently working on a Spanish translation project which will allow AIMS to offer more courses in Spanish-speaking countries though its online learning portal, AIMS ConnectEd.

Hugo joins an impressive and exclusive group of past AIMS International Safety Award winners: Harold Hudson in 2016, Har Kupers in 2017, Patrick Hoffman in 2018, Ronald Burback in 2019 and John Riggleman in 2020.

In addition to the Safety Award presentation, AIMS International recently opened registration to its annual safety seminar scheduled for Jan. 9–14, 2022, in Galveston, TX.

Delivering over 200 hours of educational content, attendees learn from world-class speakers, veteran trainers and the industry’s top professionals, increasing their knowledge and skills for the purpose of improving safety in the amusement industry.

Offering new and innovative content each year, the 2022 safety seminar will include new aquatic education programming cultivated by the world leader in aquatic safety, Ellis and Associates Inc., E&A, dedicated courses in Spanish and new this year, International Ride Training, IRT will deliver the operations curriculum, delivering upon the innovative educational experience seminar attendees expect.
