Cinnabar adds former Mindrix founder Dean Andolsek

Former Mindrix founder and principal Dean Andolsek has joined Cinnabar as their first-ever Senior Technical Designer of Mechanical Systems & Interactives. The Los Angeles-based fabrication firm enlisted Andolsek, a long-time collaborator, to support its Technical Design team amid increasingly frequent requests to build complex interactives for museums, themed attractions and immersive experiences.

Andolsek joins a team led by Technical Design Director Paula Neston, who joined Cinnabar in 2018 from BRC Imagination Arts and has since helmed the technical design of Cinnabar’s recent large-scale projects at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Working closely with Neston, Andolsek will help Cinnabar to provide turnkey solutions to some of its most technologically ambitious projects.

Andolsek brings to Cinnabar over 25 years’ experience in concept development, technical prototyping, programming, fabrication, and installation of electromechanical interactives and control systems. From 2011 to late 2021, Andolsek managed Mindrix, a Burbank-based special effects and interactives consultant to major attractions and cultural institutions throughout the U.S. He also previously managed the Side EFX Company in San Diego.

In joining Cinnabar, Andolsek will also add to the firm’s in-house capabilities and certifications, including 3D printing and UL 508A Industrial Control Panel manufacturing for ride and SAE control systems.
