Set to reopen for the 2024 Halloween season, Mall of America and American Monsters resurrect Onionhead’s Revenge, 45,000 square feet of terror. The haunted house attraction is based on the southern Louisiana legend of Onionhead.
The haunt features elaborate set designs with theatrical lighting, special effects, and an original soundtrack. More than 50 scare-actors bring to life a variety of characters and creatures that create a sense of terror for guests.
“Like most horror sequels, Onionhead’s Revenge has added more thrills and chills for year two,” said Chris Grap, Vice President of Experiential at Mall of America. “Guests who dare to explore the swamps of Slidell will have plenty of scares in store for them this Halloween season.”
The brave souls prepared to encounter Onionhead will be immersed in fear with unexpected offerings, such as themed Vern’s Bayou Bar and Doc’s, a mid-haunt speakeasy.
“More than a great haunt, Onionhead’s Revenge is an exciting night out. After a shot of ‘liquid courage’ at Vern’s bar, guests step inside a world of creepy Louisiana bayous and graveyards and come face to face with supernatural terror and a creature out for revenge,” said Charlotte Huggins, CEO of American Monsters. “We are excited to bring our chilling story to guests at Mall of America, which is the perfect iconic tourist destination for our haunted experience.”
