Three SeaWorld Entertainment waterparks add new slides for 2022

Three SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment waterparks — Adventure Island, Aquatica Orlando and Aquatica San Antonio — are adding new and reimagined water slides to their park in 2022.

Adventure Island

Adventure Island announced additions for 2022 with two new thrills and year-round operation. Opening just in time for spring break, Rapids Racer and Wahoo Remix will make a splash at Adventure Island next March. With new heaters and comfortable water temperatures, guests can now enjoy the endless summer vibe and thrilling attractions all year long.

On the all-new Rapids Racer, riders grab a two-person raft before racing through nearly 600 feet of slide, complete with low walls to encounter your opponents throughout this side-by-side experience. The thrill of the chase is amplified as guests swirl through the dueling saucers in this journey full of high-speed tunnels, turns and more.

Riders will enjoy waves of water and sound as they splash to the beat of a remixed attraction. Formerly Wahoo Run, Wahoo Remix will be Adventure Island’s first waterslide to feature synchronized light and sound elements, delivering an all-new family raft ride experience with party vibes. Enclosed tunnels that were once dark will now glow and groove as riders zoom through over 600 feet of fun.

“The all-new Rapids Racer and new enhancements to another fan-favorite attraction with Wahoo Remix will elevate the Adventure Island guest experience in an unprecedented way in 2022,” said Neal Thurman, Park President of Busch Gardens and Adventure Island. “With recently announced year-round operations, it’s going to be a momentous year for water park fans, as our guests can now splash in the sun and take on thrills from January to December.”

Rounding out Adventure Island’s revamp is the recently opened Hang Ten Tiki Bar. Centrally located between Rapids Racer and Wahoo Remix, the park’s first full-service bar is the prime spot to grab a drink and recharge. With hand-crafted signature cocktails, local brews and a regional and international rum selection, Hang Ten serves refreshing concoctions that can be found only at Adventure Island.

Aquatica Orlando

Introducing Reef Plunge, Aquatica Orlando’s all-new water slide. Guests will slide through translucent cutouts and rings and twist and turn though over 330 feet of fiberglass, zooming past an array of marine life in the new habitat. Commerson’s dolphins, leopard sharks, sardines and a variety of other cold-water fish will call Reef Plunge home. Guests will dive into the fun of Reef Plunge launching Spring of 2022.

“2022 is going to be an exciting year for Aquatica Orlando. Aquatica was voted the number one waterpark in the USA because guests love our year-round operations, one-of-a-kind attractions and laid-back beach vibe,” said Park President Kyle Miller. “We are thrilled to announce that the country’s best waterpark is adding new enhancements for an even greater guest experience and we cannot wait to unveil Reef Plunge next spring.”

In addition to the new slide, enhancements to the park include the addition of over 1,000 loungers and beach chairs with increased shade for comfort and two food and beverage additions: a quick-service pizza place and a brand-new beach bar in addition to upgrades to the popular Banana Beach Cookout. Multiple attractions will also receive upgrades, including enhancements to several water slides.

Aquatica San Antonio

Aquatica San Antonio announced an all-new attraction dueling pipeline water slide named Riptide Race, opening in 2022.

Starting atop a 51-foot tower, riders will grab a two-person raft and take their mark with their partner and plunge towards a hopeful victory. Riptide Race features dueling side-by-side flumes and low walls to ensure full view of the competition. Guests can challenge each other down nearly 565 feet of slides while navigating tight loops and turns, drops and accelerations through indoor and outdoor sections.
