Shanghai, China (June 14, 2016) — Shanghai Disney Resort will celebrate its Grand Opening between June 14 and 16, with a series of activities. Invited local and overseas media and special guests will participate in this important historic moment.
Events will include the Disney produced the world premiere of the Chinese language version of the classic Broadway musical “The Lion King”. Invited guests will have the opportunity to walk through the scenic Xing Yuan park, explore Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel, Shanghai Disneyland and experience the various attractions and entertainment.
During the opening ceremony, some areas of Shanghai Disney resort area will be closed to the public. As one of the venues activities, the resort’s shopping dining and entertainment district “Disney Town” will be temporarily closed June 14. On June 15, at 7:30 pm, “Shanghai Disneyland Park Opening Festival” will be broadcast live on Dragon TV. During the two-hour show, the Shanghai Disney Resort Honorary Ambassador Sun Li, Lang Lang, and Yao Ming will make special appearances. Performances will also offer guests wonderful music. In the final parts of the television performance, the fantasy fairy-tale castle of the Shanghai Disney Resort will be given life and color, becoming the scene for the television audience of an “authentic Disney, unique Chinese style” grand dance and fireworks finale.

On June 16, Shanghai Disney Resort will officially greet its first visitors. Operating hours on opening day of the Shanghai Disneyland will be Midnight to 10:00 p.m. Opening day tickets will not be sold at the resort site, so visitors should be sure to wait until after June 16 on the same day to purchase an admission ticket.
