Summer opening for Showboat Resort with beachfront indoor waterpark

ISLAND Waterpark – a beachfront indoor waterpark at The Showboat Resort in Atlantic City will open in the coming months. Bart Blatstein, the owner of Showboat Resort, took over the former Showboat Hotel in 2016 and began a reimagining of the former casino in phases.

Covering 120,000 square feet square feet, the waterpark features more than a dozen slides, a 1,000 square-foot surf simulator and an 11,000 linear-foot lazy river, each designed according to the park’s exotic island theme to make visitors feel like they’ve been swept away to a tropical paradise.

The park’s retractable and projectable roof allows for ample sunshine and fresh ocean breezes during the warmer months but can be closed during inclement and colder weather for year-round enjoyment of the waterpark.

The waterpark includes a more than 1,000-foot Cloud Coaster, offering spectacular panoramic views of the ocean and boardwalk, a state-of-the-art zip line and a 30-foot-tall “Indoor Tree House” that can be booked for private parties.

At night, ISLAND Waterpark transforms into a nightlife venue with 10,000 square feet designated as an adults-only zone with ocean views.

ISLAND Waterpark builds on The Showboat’s existing entertainment platform, including the Lucky Snake Arcade–currently the largest arcade on the east coast–that is on track to become the world’s largest arcade by this summer.

The more than 100,000 square-foot venue features the 40,000 square-foot Raceway Go Kart Track and more than 600 games, including pinball, virtual reality, bowling and more. As part of the launch of The Showboat Resort, the arcade is undergoing a 10,000 square-foot expansion that will include additional attractions rolling out over the summer including disco-themed roller blading, a state-of-the-art, movie-themed miniature golf course, a 40-foot-tall climbing wall, and a large Zoltar fortune teller.

Later this summer, the Vending Row will greet guests as they traverse from the Showboat Hotel to the ISLAND Waterpark, offering a surprising variety of food, snacks and products not typically found in vending machines, including pizza, ramen, cotton candy and more. The high-tech machines, which have created buzz on social media, are currently available only in Las Vegas and overseas.

The transformation into The Showboat Resort will also mark the completion of the iconic Showboat Hotel’s first phase of hotel renovations, including 477 guest rooms among which are 36 Balcony Suites– featuring the only balconies on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, two Super Suites and 16 Junior Suites.
