Vekoma’s newest ride innovations to be showcased at IAAPA Expo 2023

Vekoma Rides will be attending this year’s IAAPA Expo, which takes place at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando from 14 – 17 November. The team will be at booth #5124, where they will be talking about the company’s newest products and services.

The Dutch roller coaster manufacturer has enjoyed a strong year, with its award-winning Family Launch Coasters ‘Big Bear Mountain’ at Dollywood in the US (pictured above) and ‘Lightning’ at Furuvik in Europe. Vekoma introduced this new type of family thrill coaster to the market. It’s the best of both worlds – with its low height requirement it accommodates younger riders while also providing a fun coaster experience for the more adventurous, allowing for the whole family to ride together.

In spring, the Swedish park Liseberg opened a custom design Family Boomerang ‘Luna’ and this summer the world’s first Super Boomerang ‘Cloud Shuttle’ was launched at Xuzhou Fantawild Wonderland in China.

New projects around the globe

2024 will be a record-breaking year for Vekoma in the USA. Thrill coasters like the Tilt Coaster ‘Circuit Breaker’ will open at Cotaland and North-America’s first Super Boomerang, ‘THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity,’ will rise at Six Flags Great Adventure. Furthermore, the Horus Family Coaster ‘Midnight Flyer’ will open at Santa’s Village in Jefferson, New Hampshire, Family Boomerang Rebound ‘Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers’ will open at Kings Island and Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is opening the custom design Family Boomerang ‘Good Gravy!’ located in their Thanksgiving section.

Other 2024 projects around the globe are a Suspended Thrill Coaster and Family Boomerang with intertwined design at Emerald Park in Ireland, a Kalypso Family Coaster and Mine Train at Energylandia in Poland, a Family Boomerang and the fifth Top Gun Launch Coaster at Fantawild in China. Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia will open the world’s first Wizard of Oz precinct including a Family Boomerang Racer and Suspended Family Coaster.

NORTH AMERICA’S FIRST SUPER BOOMERANG!

North America’s first Super Boomerang, ‘THE FLASH™: Vertical Velocity,’ will open in 2024 at Six Flags Great Adventure. Riders will strap in and speed off aboard an intricately designed train inspired by THE FLASH’s suit, experiencing micro gravity as they run upside down, almost 100 feet off the ground. They’ll zoom through a 180-degree twisted drop followed by a Zero-G roll back to the vertical tower, reaching speeds of up to 59 miles per hour. The train pauses, and then, just like THE FLASH, it changes directions on a dime and rushs backwards along the track.

FAMILY BOOMERANG ‘GOOD GRAVY!’

Family Boomerang ‘Good Gravy!’ will open to the public in May 2024 at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, located in its Thanksgiving section. Riders will board a train shaped like a giant gravy boat, which will be pulled backwards uphill before flying forwards through the station onto cranberry- colored track, hitting a maximum speed of 37 miles per hour. The train will fly through a giant cranberry jelly can before narrowly avoiding giant kitchen accoutrement, such as a 20-foot-tall whisk and an 18-foot-tall rolling pin before flying up a 77-foot-tall spike and repeating the journey backwards. The journey will be nearly 1,500 feet long. More details on this project will be revealed during the press conference on Tuesday, November 14, at 2:15 p.m. at #booth 5124.
