Veteran Animal Curator Pat Sharkey Named Executive Director of Oceans Aquarium

Coventry, RI, USA — Pat Sharkey, General Curator at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI, has taken the reigns as Executive Director of the Oceans Aquarium Research and Science Center.  Sharkey has almost thirty years experience in animal husbandry, having also been General Curator at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX, and an Assistant Curator at SeaWorld San Diego.

Plans call for a 10 million gallon aquarium featuring five main tanks, one for each of the world’s oceans, a giant screen 3D theater, museum exhibits, shopping and dining venues, and education and research facilities.  A location has yet to be announced.
