New land developed by Creative Studio Berlin opens in The Land of Legends

The Land of Legends Theme Park has officially opened “Waterfly,” a new themed water world that combines immersive storytelling, high-energy attractions, and vibrant visual design. The project was developed by Creative Studio Berlin (CSB), the internationally renowned design and production studio led by Chief Creative Officer & Owner Chris Lange.

For issue 109, IPM Publisher Martin Palicki sat down with Creative Studio Berlin in partnership with The Room Laboratories for details on Secret Laboratory, a Thea Award honoree, which serves as an educational immersive experience at the historic Schloss Augustusburg.

Opened in early May 2026, Waterfly introduces a dynamic new experience where the energy of water meets the freedom of flight. At the heart of the new land stands the “Dragonfly Tower,” a 52-meter (171-foot) waterslide structure that ranks among the tallest in Europe and features a collection of attractions. The experience is complemented by “Butterfly Beach,” a family-friendly zone with interactive slides and water play experiences designed for guests of all ages.

Waterfly combines thrilling water attractions with immersive environments inspired by dragonflies, butterflies, movement, and color — creating a visually striking destination full of motion and energy. All water slides and attractions have been developed in partnership with WhiteWater.

“Our goal was to create a water world that feels emotionally and visually different from a traditional waterpark,” says Becky Train, Creative Producer at Creative Studio Berlin. “Waterfly combines bold architectural design with a sense of freedom and speed. Every attraction was designed to feel like its own moment of excitement and surprise while still belonging to one cohesive story.”

The Dragonfly Tower features several high-thrill slides, including the world-first “Dragonfly Jet,” which combines a Helix Twist with dynamic slide elements in a unique ride experience. Additional attractions such as “Golden Wing Spiral,” “Emerald Blur,” and “Sunset Drop” offer varying levels of intensity, from freefall experiences to high-speed turbo slides with drop launches.

Beyond the thrill factor, the project focused strongly on the overall thematic experience. Colors, forms, and flowing movement throughout the land translate the idea of flight into an immersive water adventure designed to engage both families and adrenaline seekers alike.

“Waterfly represents the perfect fusion of storytelling, immersive design, and emotional guest engagement”, says Hande Tezerdi, Senior Executive Director for Strategic Development at The Land of Legends. “Together with our trusted partner Creative Studio Berlin, we have created a destination that raises the international benchmark for themed water entertainment.”

Creative Studio Berlin is one of Europe’s studios for immersive entertainment design and themed experiences. At The Land of Legends, the company was responsible for projects such as Masha and the Bear – The Land of Laughter and the Turtle Water Coaster. Creative Studio Berlin develops attractions, themed environments, museums, and resort experiences worldwide, with currently developing projects across Europe, Asia, and North America.
