Rovio and Merlin Entertainments have partnered together to deliver an Angry Birds-branded educational experience, empowering families to protect our oceans at the SEA LIFE locations, in a deal facilitated by Angry Birds licensing agent, IMG Licensing. Launching this summer in Great Yarmouth, Birmingham, Loch Lomond, Blackpool, Manchester, Brighton and Scarborough, after several successful events in other European locations, this interactive event uses playful Angry Birds themed activations to teach children about threats facing marine life, and how to protect the ocean and sea animals. Participants follow an interactive trail, learn about ocean conservation, and receive a certificate upon completion. Protecting marine life plays an important role in the collaboration and all parts of the activation are implemented in the most sustainable way.
This partnership with SEA LIFE is the latest sustainability focused venture for the Angry Birds brand, which has actively engaged in environmental projects through various avenues. As a founding member of the UN’s Playing for the Planet Alliance, Rovio commits to reducing emissions and supporting environmental initiatives like tree planting and plastic reduction. Recently the brand has also partnered with EARTHDAY.ORG in the April 2024 “Birds Helping Birds” initiative, which raised awareness about plastic waste through in-game events and a donation to EARTHDAY.ORG.
