Extreme Engineering announces Cloud Coaster for Wilderness at the Smokies

Opening in 2023, the family coaster will be located in an indoor adventure park located in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Extreme Engineering announced on June 29, 2022 the installation of an exciting indoor suspended roller coaster, the “Cloud Coaster,” for Wilderness at the Smokies in Tennessee.  The Cloud Coaster is designed to interact with other attractions throughout the adventure park, immersing guests of all ages in the themed Forest Family Adventure Park. Riders will be suspended above various attractions such as a themed mini golf, laser-tag and a ropes course.

Wilderness at the Smokies is located in Sevierville, TN, and is situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The famous national park is the most popular in the United States welcoming over 11 million visitors a year. The waterpark also features a see-through roof.

The Forest Family Adventure Park where the Cloud Coaster will located is planned to be complete by 2023. Extreme Engineering’s coaster will be mostly suspended in the adventure facility’s ceiling, reducing the amount of necessary structure needed for operation. The ride vehicle will allow children as small at 40 inches in height with a maximum weight of 250 pounds per seat.

Wilderness at the Smokies will be Extreme Engineering’s 8th installation and the very first for the state of Tennessee. The Cloud Coaster will also be the first family coaster that soars guests through various rooms of an adventure park. A raised platform will launch riders at a starting height of 18 feet with maximum heights of approximately 25 feet in the air. The overall layout of the Cloud Coaster will allow the operator to achieve moderate to quick cycle times, allowing many riders per hour.
