Holovis, the immersive technology company, announced the latest installation of its 360Golf system at the popular British holiday destination, Butlin’s. This new partnership brings the next generation of mini-golf to the Bognor Regis resorts’ brand-new £15 million ($19.4 million) indoor activity center PLAYXPERIENCE. Three brand-new themed courses were officially unveiled on October 7.
The 27 holes in PLAYXPERIENCE, use the 360Golf reimagined version of mini-golf that integrates technology into the gameplay. TechPutt replaces pencils and paper with a seamless, tech-infused system that tracks scores in real time, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the fun. With the 360Golf system embedded in every ball, players can enjoy a stress-free game where their strokes and progress are automatically monitored and displayed on interactive screens around the course.
Guests can choose from three themed courses, each with nine holes that challenge players in different ways:
- Vegas Course: Golf meets glitz on this casino-themed course, offering the most challenging experience with obstacles like the “Spin & Win” and a Pool Party hole.
- Music Course: Perfect for all ages, this sound-themed course lets guests tune up and tee off to a rock-and-roll beat, appealing to young stars and seasoned groovers alike. This course is wheelchair accessible thanks to an adapted putter and specially designed course.
- Neon Course: This UV-lit course is a visual feast, featuring fluorescent obstacles and glowing props that light up the game in a wild and whacky way.
The magic behind TechPutt is powered by Holovis’ 360Golf technology, which uses advanced tracking systems embedded into the golf balls themselves. After players register at a kiosk, each team is assigned personalized golf balls, and the system takes over from there. When players tee off, sensors across the course recognize who’s playing, track the number of strokes, and automatically calculate scores.
What makes 360Golf unique is its incorporation of special Supershots, and bonus points into the course design, adding an extra layer of excitement to each game. These elements are all effortlessly tracked by the system, meaning players can focus on having fun rather than keeping score.
Each installation of 360Golf is supported by Holovis’ advanced DeepSmarts data analytics system, which offers operators valuable insights into player behavior and operational performance. The system tracks everything from player volumes and game lengths to high scores, course usage, and even maintenance schedules, ensuring optimal performance and guest satisfaction.
